City Council Hears Compelling Dog Complaints: Off-leash Privileges in Jeopardy
After in-person complaints at the past two Englewood City Council meetings, the city will very likely be discussing off-leash privileges at upcoming Study Sessions in June and July. At the first City Council meeting, a complainant came prepared with photos of people allowing their dogs to run on the playgrounds. Children who had been frightened by dogs at Jason Park also spoke about their negative experiences with dogs at Jason Park. At the most recent City Council meeting on June 15, two complainants described "dogs running wild" at Centennial Park, accosting children on the playground and terrorizing another person as they walked their dogs on leash. Englewood Unleashed was present at both City Council meetings and was able to respond on behalf of the irresponsible minority of dog owners who jeopardize off-leash privileges for the responsible majority. At the second City Council meeting, Englewood Unleashed had already put together an action plan to remedy the complaints about dogs at Jason Park and was able to respond to the new complaints at Centennial Park. Each City Council member was given a copy of the action plan before the meeting and it was very well-received. Review the recent Newsbites Bulletin containing more details and the action plan from Englewood Unleashed.
Your Action Is Needed Now!
Here's what you can do to preserve off-leash privileges in Englewood.
