MISSION & HISTORY

After the closure in 2003 of Bates-Logan Park to off-leash dogs, followed by a move to close Jason Park to off-leash dogs as well, a group of dog lovers, including Greg Kainer, Alice Hanna (shown here with Sultan and Kuma), Tavis Hanna, Kim Love, and Jill Wilson rallied dog owners in 2004 to create Englewood Unleashed, a non-profit 501(c)3 Corporation, to work with the City of Englewood. The result has been the creation of a dedicated dog park, the Englewood Canine Corral, and the clean-up and support of off-leash areas in other Englewood Parks.

To support off-leash dog privileges at designated parks within the City of Englewood.

To work with, aid and assist the City of Englewood’s City Council, Parks and Recreation Commission and Parks and Recreation Department by raising funds and providing volunteer support to improve and better maintain the off-leash parks in Englewood, in which dogs can exercise without leash restraint in a clean, healthy and safe environment.

To receive, invest and use funds acquired through membership dues, fundraising events, donations, gifts, grants, bequests and solicitations needed to facilitate health, safety, maintenance and improvement projects at off-leash parks in Englewood and to achieve this organization’s goals.

To be advocates of responsible dog ownership.

To serve as a local educational resource on dog ownership.

To cultivate community spirit, and neighborhood relations through various outreach efforts.

To provide a safe, clean and accessible environment where dog owners and their canine companions can exercise and socialize.

Englewood Unleashed is dedicated to public education for off-leash dog recreation, site selection, park maintenance and fundraising for the Englewood, Colorado, off-leash community.
